What Is A Public Montessori School?

Triangle Lake Montessori is proud to be a public Montessori school—where the innovative educational approach developed by Maria Montessori meets the accessibility and accountability of public education.

A Montessori Education

Montessori education is built on the belief that children learn best through hands-on exploration, purposeful work, and meaningful choice. In our classrooms, students:

  • Engage with hands-on, research-based materials

  • Learn in multi-age communities in Pre-K/Kindergarten that foster leadership and collaboration

  • Experience work cycles that support deep concentration

  • Progress at their own pace toward mastery

Teachers serve as guides, carefully observing and preparing the environment to meet each child’s academic and developmental needs.

A Public School Commitment

As a public school, we:

  • Follow state standards and accountability measures (testing)

  • Serve all students within our attendance zone

  • Provide licensed teachers and certified staff

  • Offer services for students with diverse learning needs

  • Are tuition-free and open to all families

  • Provide instruction in both a whole-group and small group setting

  • Use researched-based and district aligned instructional materials

The Best of Both Worlds

A public Montessori school blends child-centered learning with high academic expectations. Students develop independence, responsibility, critical thinking skills, and a lifelong love of learning while meeting and often exceeding grade-level standards.

At Triangle Lake Montessori, we are committed to educating the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing, inclusive community.

Is Montessori a Good Fit for My Child?

At Triangle Lake Montessori, we believe every child is capable of thriving in the right environment. The Montessori approach, developed by Maria Montessori, is designed to nurture independence, curiosity, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.

Students who flourish in a Montessori setting often:

  • Show curiosity about the world around them

  • Enjoy making choices within boundaries and working independently

  • Are developing the ability to focus for extended periods

  • Respond positively to guidance

  • Demonstrate kindness and respect toward others

  • Take pride in mastering new skills

It is important to note that children do not need to enter Montessori with all of these traits fully developed. Our prepared environment is intentionally designed to cultivate independence, concentration, self-discipline, and intrinsic motivation over time.

Through work cycles and hands-on learning materials, students grow academically, socially, and emotionally at their own pace developing confidence in who they are as learners and as individuals.
